College Essay Coaching

You are probably feeling a mixture of excitement, dread, anxiety, and paralysis at the prospect of applying to college.

The college application process is made up of many small steps that, when taken in total, can rightly feel overwhelming. It’s a high stakes process with lasting ramifications on your future.

We will work together to uncover your unique point-of-view, and use it to showcase your personality on your college applications and scholarships.

Step-By-Step

Our aim is to make the process as painless as possible. We are here to equip you with a plan of attack and put some writing tools in your toolkit to help you feel a little more relaxed. It’s all about baby steps.

Writing Chops

You’re probably a champ at the typical high school English essay, which is often a gamified version of picking out evidence to match a thesis you’ve made to impress your teacher. Most students get pretty good at this by Senior year.

New Point-Of-View

Nowhere in your high school experience have you been asked to write as vulnerable and clever and elegant a piece of writing that is required on your applications.

Cheering You On

That’s where we come in. With a little bit of guidance and coaching, you can start to get your ideas unstuck and let them flow in this new and unfamiliar genre of writing.

"My extracurriculars, transcript, and rec letters were the ingredients, but Mrs. Pillow helped me curate and execute a recipe, blending together the different elements of my life into a compelling story. She saw the potential within the essays I wrote and brought out that extra touch that only someone with her experience could add."
